Normally when you cannot get serial communication I suggest to do a loader test. Power the device off, hold the enter key, and power the device back on. If the serial number populates in the loader test, upgrade the firmware. When this is completed, refresh the com ports, and then attempt communication. This solves 99% of all communication problems I have encountered.
