for those who wondered what the small black box with the led, switch and alligator clips is used for i just did some research:

the big red alligator clip supplies +12v to the Kess main unit on pin 12 of the 25pins male D-connector; +12v is wired trough a 1N4001 diode to the switch which powers the led trough a 2K2 resistor and supplies the blue/white/orange/yellow and red wire with +12v (switched output).

the big black alligator clip supplies GND to the Kess main unit on pin 24 of the male D-connector; it also connects to the LED (negative) and to the gray wire and the small black alligator clip (GND)

the K-line is connected to pin 10 of the male D-connector and to the green wire.

So Basically it uses only 3 pins of the Kess main unit (+12v, GND and K-line) and it outputs 5x switched +12v (blue,white,orange,yellow and red) , 2x GND (gray and small black crocodile clip) and 1x K-line (green).
